Who is Papa's Workshop?
My name is David Ussery (Papa). My wife, Lee Ann, and I created Papa's Workshop in 2020.
I grew up as the son of a hands-on home builder and could be found in my father's workshop at a young age.
Playing with sawdust from such an early age formed a passion to build things with my own hands. Eventually, I would follow in my father's footsteps and build houses as well. For all of my career, I have been involved in construction through selling building materials but I have always found time to "play" in my workshop. During the pandemic, I found some extra time and Papa's Workshop LLC was formed.
Our basic idea was to create homemade items, such as candles, soaps, and small woodworking items to sell at craft fairs and such. From the beginning, I also had the idea to reach out to schools and other organizations to offer our homemade items for sale as fundraising opportunities.
Lee Ann and I were co-presidents of our daughters' high school band boosters and we fondly remember all the fundraisers we were a part of during those years. We offer our products to schools and non-profit organizations throughout the Carolinas.
